I found this ugly looking beetle feasting on the stub of a G. tsugae that I removed. It was about 1/2" long.
Bill Neill makes it a male Horned fungus beetle.
It looks like a small piece of Chaga with legs and a pay loader for a mouth. I wonder if it got its looks from eating the tsugae??? Bill Russell, be careful what you eat!!
