Maple Street Stump
8/14/07
Here is what the stump looked like on 8/28,
8 days after I removed the large Ganoderma and the bark to which it was
attached.

New growth was oozing out of the stump. It was thickest next to the soil,
about 1/2" thick. It is as if gravity was pulling it down. It is
about 7" wide at this stage.
Below is how it looks on 8/14/07, from the
top. The fruiting body sticks out about 2.5" from the stump and is about
6" wide.

At ground level, it has receded from the ground and there is about an inch of
space. In the above picture, it looks like it is developing 2 or 3 stems.
The original had 2 stems, one a very wide one.
On the opposite side of the stump a new bud
is starting to grow out of the earth, about a foot from the stump.

It is about an inch in diameter.
Here is another bud that is growing right
next to the stump and already shows a distinct stem.

It is about 1.25" high.
