Boletus variipes

Here is a group picture.  The large one had a cap of 8.75".

They felt like they had a tough tap root.  It required some force to pick the large one.  You could hear a crick-crack as it came loose from the ground.

Underside of the large one.  Pores were olive green.  It was not wormy.  The reticulation was white near the top but brown further down.
