Ganoderma curtisii
8/19/06

The cap now looks like it was in the first one that I picked.  I called it sunny side up polypore :o)
The cap measures a bit more then 2.5".

Today I looked at the old polypore that grew beside it.  The cap was broken off from the top of the stem.  The stem was still sticking in the ground.  I found that it rooted right beside this new curtisii.  Though the cap was off center and it consisted of three caps that came off the same stem, I am inclined to believe that it was last years curtisii.  If you look at the page that shows the old polypore you should see the old stem coming out beside the new curtisii stem and the broken off top is at the lower right cap of the old polypore.  The new cap is almost as large as the three produced last year.  I think this is because we had much more rain this year.
