Found this mess of button mushrooms growing
under a spruce. Next door spruce, about 30 ft. away has a similar but
smaller group of mushrooms growing from the base of the tree to about 6ft. away.
Here is a close-up of one.
The spore print came out chocolate
brown to blackish brown on the edge of the cap where it built up.

Gills
Removed the partial veil in order to show the gills.
Bill thinks they could possibly be Agaricus
osecanus.
Jim thinks they might also be Lepiota naucina but since the spore print came out
brown, not white, this idea is out.
I will post more data and possible ID if they mature before the frost gets to
them.
